| The
National Trust for Scotland maintains this unique site at the head of Loch Shiel
to the memory of the Jacobite Uprising of 1745. Erected in 1815 the monument
is a tribute to the clansmen who fought and died in the Jacobite cause. The Visitor Centre on the
site houses a fascinating exhibition, on 'Glenfinnan and the '45' and offers
a commentary in four languages about the raising of the standard. For more detailed
